We need to start with your original color retouched digital file that has been approved. If your file is already b/w, it will work just fine. We require a minimal file size of 300 ppi @ 100% the file size. A higher resolution will also work just fine. The HelioLinear conversion is delivered in bitmap mode with a minimum of 900 ppi resolution. Each file is adjusted for newsprint reproduction with maximum level of the black plate at 91%. If you want your HelioLinear for magazine, packaging or another substrate reproduction, we will provide the file with profiles adjusted accordingly. Because we supply the file to you as a b/w bitmapped file, it is supplied in line screens 55 lpi to 100 lpi. The HelioLinear has a useable size range down to 85% and up to 115% of the file size.

The HelioLinear technique is a straight line pattern, which can run vertically or horizontally to bring out the best in your image. This technique displays strong contrast, but also adds an illustrative effect to your image. Its greatest asset is the embedded bold and clean pattern.
Products with clean edges and angles, landscapes, and people's portraits are suggested subjects. Furthermore, due to the conversion's bold pattern, images with light background or even knocked out background reproduce better overall.
Keep in mind that while the HelioLinear pattern is in essence a design of black lines and white space, it can also be reversed to achieve a sort of a "negative" look, which in itself could be a very distinct display of your product.
